ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- This K07 award has laid the foundation for me to expand my responsibilities at Morehouse School of Medicine to include Chairing our Global Health Task Force, facilitating student international health experience and health disparities activities. I now teach a required course in the MPH program on cultural competency and health communications.
- I regularly consult with the Georgia Medical Foundation, Mississippi Department of Health, Peach State Health Care HMO and other health care organizations on cultural competency issues.
- Through this award, MSM has developed cases for the American Cancer Society using standardized patients to train patient navigators how to deal with situations that involved culture, language and belief of diverse patients.
