ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Teaching about Health Care Disparities in the Clinical Setting. Together with Drs. Leonor Fernandez, David Irby, Elizabeth Harleman and Alicia Fernandez, adapted an established teaching model, Time-Effective Strategies for Teaching (TEST) to teaching about health care disparities. The model is easy to remember and facilitates teaching about health care disparities in the clinical setting.
  • ERADICATE: Eliminating Racial Disparities in Care Through Education. Developed and implemented a case-based curriculum for internal medicine residents and primary care providers that includes optimal clinical practice, disparities in asthma care and patient-centered care.
  • Primary Care for Vulnerable and Underserved Populations conference series. Developed and implemented a monthly conference series for medical students, residents and attending physicians to help primary care physicians (and future primary care physicians) care for patients in low resource environments. The conference series also aims to bring together students, residents and practicing physicians interested in this work.
